Small care homes in Florida, 16 beds or fewer

1,840 of Florida's 3,017 licensed facilities are small homes, often a regular house with a handful of residents and a much higher staff-to-resident ratio. They are the majority of the state's licenses and the hardest to find online, because most have no website and cannot afford referral fees.

What a small home is

Florida licenses these under the same assisted living rules as a 200-bed community, so they carry the same standards and the same inspections. What differs is scale: fewer residents, often a live-in operator, home cooking, and a quieter environment. Families usually find them by word of mouth, which is exactly why a complete public list matters.
